Italy Retreat end of April

The Cilento Coast is south of Naples airport and just past the Amalfi Coast. A one and a half hour trip approx.. and you arrive along the coast of Cilento into Santa Maria di Castellabate.

Much of the area is covered by the Cilento national park – the second largest national park in Italy – and it boasts 100km of coastline and a wild, mountainous interior sprinkled with historic villages still wedded to a traditional way of life.

This is where ordinary Neapolitans escape to in the summer and is still largely off the tourist radar which is why it has maintained its unspoilt beauty and is considered one of Italy’s greatest secrets.

A zigzagging road leads you up to the ancient village Castellabate and this village looks down on the coastal village of Santa Maria di Castellabate, where the evening passeggiata is in full swing, with young and old strolling along the seafront. At the heart of the historic centre is a sandy beach, surrounded by noble palazzi and fishermen’s houses. Your accommodation is in a warm and friendly 4 star hotel with pool and private gardens, an oasis of tranquillity. There is a gentle ambience about the place combined with meditation and Qi gong would be the ideal way to recharge those bodies after the winter.

Iyengar yoga is named after B.K.S. Iyengar, whose style of yoga is now taught in more than 40 countries around the world. He evolved precise postures (asana) and breathing (pranayama) techniques that are accessible to all, regardless of age, experience, or physical condition. With the help of supports that we call “props,” students can progress in their practice safely and at their own level, in line with their own body.

Tara’s classes in Ballinderreen include students who are beginners to those who have developed their own practice after regularly attending classes for more than two years. Tara began practicing Iyengar yoga in 2000, has studied under Senior Iyengar teachers from London, France, Spain, Canada and Ireland, and is a qualified teacher at the Introductory Level 2 level. Prior to teaching in Ireland, she taught in Beijing, China in both English and Chinese since 2010. Iyengar yoga classes are currently offered on Wednesday evening 6:30-8:00 and Thursday mornings 9:45-11:00 through June, with classes to be scheduled over the summer as well.

In classic training, the first step in practice of a bagua zhang energy posture is to learn, understand and stabilize the physical structural details of the posture in your body.
The next step is to get the chi  being generated from your bagua walking to travel up your legs and through your body—into your arms and out your fingertips. This involves a layering that builds and connects your entire body’s chi from the ground up.

As your internal contractions and tensions lessen and your body opens up over time, this simple yet powerful form opens up the emotional body.

Fusion Meditation.

The Fusion meditation shows us step by step how
to remove the negative emotions from the organs.
We learn how to crystallise and store this energy into
a mysterious pearl. This is the essence of our life-force
energy or chi.

Blending free-flowing movements with particular frequencies of sound, Chakradance™ will free the energy in your body and open you to a deeper experience of life. A healing dance/movement practice that draws on a fusion of philosophies and musical styles,

Chakradance™ aims to restore health to our chakras – the energy centers that, in Eastern tradition, are the gateways to integrating mind, body and spirit.

In a darkened room, lit only by candle-light, we move with our attention turned inwards, for unlike most other dance practices, Chakradance™ is about making a connection with our inner world – the world of our imagination, feelings, intuition and senses.

ShamanicWorkshop

Introducing Shamanism and the Spirits of Nature

April 12th and 13th 2014 in the
Amber Healing Centre, South Galway

Shamanism
The word shamanism is not one that’s familiar to most of us in our everyday life. At the same time many of us feel that there is more to life that just physical existence. We sense that there is a greater energy that is all knowing and all powerful and often in our own ways call on it for support, help and guidance. Finding ways to connect to this energy is often where we struggle and yet it is what we long for.
This course offers us opportunity to learn about and experience the world of the shaman, especially his/her deep relationship with the Spirits of Nature. Like the shaman, participants will access help and guidance for themselves and others by connecting to the Spirits of Nature. Through this we can come to experience balance in our life and also in our relationship with the Earth. We will explore methods for connecting to plant spirits and work in union with them to bring healing. Time will be spent in Nature and together in circle so that we can share and learn to understand our experiences.

Cost is 120 euro. Deposit of 50 euro. Advance booking necessary as place numbers are limited to 9 participants

Tai Chi and Qi Gong are both ancient Chinese traditions that relieve stress and increase energy. So what distinguishes t’ai chi from qigong? If you are considering learning one of these art forms, it’s important to know which one is right for you. A student asked me the other day to explain this which i will to the best of my ability.

Tai Chi is more dynamic.

Tai Chi involve a series of many moves. One t’ai chi form can take months to learn and a lifetime to master. It is more dynamic in general.

Qi Gong will focus on a single move repeated over and over, and sometimes does not involve movement at all, but will focus only on breathing. For this reason, t’ai chi may be effective for anti-aging, since it is a mental workout as well as a physical one.

T’ai chi requires much discipline. The position of your knees, feet and spine are all used . Qigong is more about just being present and relaxed so in a short time great benefits will be felt.

Some of the positions, stances and moves required by t’ai chi may be difficult for some to achieve. Athletes who have suffered serious injuries or participants with certain disabilities may find t’ai chi forms more challenging.

Because qigong is free-form, it is also very adaptive. Anyone in any condition may participate in its breathing exercises, and may adapt its simple moves to their own level of physical ability.

T’ai chi was developed more recently by Shaolin monks and Chinese military leaders. They originally intended their “T’ai chi Chuan,” or “Grand Ultimate Fist,” for self-defense and combat. The founders of t’ai chi were also well-versed in the practices of Qigong, and interwove elements of it throughout their system of self-defense. However, qigong is considered a health system, and t’ai chi is truly a martial art.

Image    Treating your kidneys coming into winter. The Kidneys are a water element are like a battery in the bodys energy if they run low fatigue and illness can set in .The ginger compress is a great way to maintain the warm energy in the kidneys as they are cold in nature this time of year they may get a chill .

How does a Ginger Compress work getting natures energy back in the body because of the chi activities and heat  of the Ginger root. The heat activity of the compress stimulates the blood and tissu circulation in the area being treated which then facilitates the bearing of the dispersed toxins away to be excreted.

This therapy can also be used while lying on our back the towel focuses the heat on the abdominal cavity in which the intesstine lie and they penetrate into the tissue by means of the root activity and break up the mucus stagnations encountered in the tissues by means of the strong dispersive activity and assists in stimulating their proper activity.

This practice goes along very well with specific Qi Gong breathing  Practices to stimulate the kidney energy .

Tai Chi and Qi Gong Improves sleep

A study of 118 older adults at the Oregon Research Institute found that tai chi improved sleep quality more than a low-impact exercise control. Participates were randomly assigned to the tai chi or control group. Each group met for one hour, three times a week for 24 weeks. At the end of the program the individuals randomly assigned to take tai chi had significant improvements in sleep quality, sleep-onset latency, sleep duration, sleep efficiency and sleep disturbances.

Energy Healing Galway

I originally Learned Tui Na and Qi Energy healing from my Shaolin Teacher ,Shi de lon since then i have opened more to intuition based healing and also qualified as a sports massage therapist and studied the healing of Taoist medicine a practical approach to a very old medicine .The lifeforce is the only medicine in energy work and can be blocked or unbalanced for many reasons .

Depending on the symptoms of the person i will work more with energy or massage.

A healing session is usually one hour first session .Healing is used on all the glands and nervous system is activated on first session. The second session is working on the internal organs .The Wei Qi is emitted from the qi gong practitioner usually after 3-4 years training and is known as nei gong skill with the qi.

This is essential as a healing person can pick up blocked energy from a client and must be able to clear this if there qi level is not strong enough they may become ill from healing.

Initially the energy works on the external of the body and the 12 meridians over time it works its way into the internal organs and the glands. Some qi gong exercises and breathing are essential part of your own recovery and u can stimulate your own bodys healing with regular practice .

The  benefits of having someone experienced is to speed recovery and perhaps get a deeper insight as to what action can be taken to resolve the issue .

Fatigue ,Headache ,back pain sciatia are just a few along with emotional well being.

A session can be booked by email or phone,dempsey.gao@yahoo.ie

Autumn Qi events

Hi all hope it has been a good Summer for u all and u have the energy reserves to greet the new Season Of Autumn if not some Qi Practice always helps .
I have put together a daily practice Qi Gong for self healing
An easy to follow routine for all levels.
Anyone i have spoken to or has trained Qi Gong ,Tai Chi for many years always tell me its the daily practice that keeps the Qi flowing.
Its not easy to wake up and start the daily exercise but it always reconnects us to that part of ourselves that renews our connection to the lifeforce and the way we look at things with a bit more positivity .
There is a basic form and an advanced version of this short form and it only takes 10- 15 mins to do the basic u can do it along with any other exercise programme and if u wish to deepen it just spend longer on each exercise.
One of the main points is a daily healing and activating of the glands in the body and our internal organs .
We know about there production of hormones which are proven to have the ability to create our own healing medicine for almost all ailments emotional and physical,Also just some good general principles of Qi Gong and Tai Chi to activate our spine and nervous system combined with 3 levels of breathing the form is taught along with some theory session to understand why we are doing these practices.
